The biggest news we have to announce is that the state of Quintana Roo is now GREEN!
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Mexico has been using a traffic light system to represent the level of restrictions that are in place. For the first time since early 2020, the Riviera Maya is now fully open for business and travel. Entry into department stores, shops, restaurants, and other indoor locations still requires the use of a mask, temperature check and hand sanitizer. But everything is open and it looks like it’s going to stay that way.
Not only is everything open, the beaches are looking great as well. As you can see in the video below, the beaches are clean and there is almost no sargazo anywhere. The Caribbean water is back to its old turquoise color, and there is plenty of activity from beachgoers who are enjoying it from morning until night.
Hotels and vacation rental properties are quickly filling up their booking calendars for December, January and February. This is a great sign that things are back to normal in the Riviera Maya, so don’t wait until the last minute to make your reservations and travel plans.
